Pin this to the top of your card ideas for friends list!

We are ALWAYS on the lookout for fun card ideas for friends, especially during these times when our friends are so much more important to us. This concept – how much our friends are pulling us through – is part of why we focused our efforts on some new friend items in our new release that you can see here. And speaking of the new release, today Renee is sharing a project that is just perfect to send to a friend AND has the bonus ability to be a perfect card for any occasion with just a change of the greeting. Let’s dive in!

First Renee made her background by taking her layer of white card stock and simply giving it a couple of spritzes with black ink spray to make some lovely irregular speckles. When you do this, be sure to set this aside to dry completely because smudges are NOT as pretty as speckles!

Then she stamped her images using our new Darling Dahlias stamp set and colored them in with her daughter’s favorite color with her Copic markers. She cut them all out with the coordinating dies for the set.

Renee used her stamp positioner to stamp her sentiment right in the center of the card to make sure her beautiful flower “frame” would fit perfectly. Next she arranged her flowers around the outside edges of this panel to get the placement she liked. PRO TIP: tack the flowers down with old washi tape so they don’t shift when you do the cutting in the next step.

Once she had her flowers laid out in the way she wanted, Renee used her paper trimmer to cut right up the sides of her panel to trim off the flower and leaves overhanging the edge. Renee says you can for sure use scissors but she likes to use her trimmed to keep those edges straight and square. She did this so this card, with all its luxurious foliage around the center greeting, could fit nicely into standard envelope!

She then took her panel and piece by piece, adhered the flowers and leaves to the background with varying thicknesses of foam tape to create that beautiful dimension. Can’t you just see this with any of our beautiful brand new flower stamps?
