Stretch how you use your layered stamp sets with this fun tip!

You all love our layered stamp sets and we are thrilled! We LOVE seeing what you are making with them and are so happy that the layers we design give you all the delicious detail and dimension you love.

Today, Carol is showing us a very fun way to use just the outline layer of the layered stamp sets to create a whole new look that we think is just as beautiful. Let’s check it out!

First, let’s make the card base: Trim a piece of white card stock to your card size and use one of the colors you are going to use in your flowers – here Copic V05 – to color around the edges to create a perfectly coordinating layer. Add this to your card base.  Then ink up the Horizontal Strip Background stamp with black ink, stamp onto white and trim to 5″ X 3″. Then cut more white card stock with the scallop shape from Borders #1 and trim to fit the striped panel – Carol left it about 2 1/2″ at the widest point. Adhere this to the striped panel with liquid glue and add the whole thing to your colored panel.

Now on to the “fun” part! Stamp the outline layer only from your choice of any of our layered stamp sets – here Carol is using Fresh Florals – in Copic-friendly ink on white card stock. Carol suggests you start with the petals that look easiest to color and to finish each petal one at a time for the best blending and shading. And she recommends starting with the darkest shades first and blending out to the lightest areas. The shapes of the petals and the detail lines are great guides to laying down your ink.

When you’ve got everything colored, cut out all your Copic colored shapes with the coordinating dies. Stamp your greeting with black onto white card stock and cut it out with the smallest Nested Oval Scallop die.

Now arrange your beautiful flowers and leaves over the curves of the scallops and when you have an arrangement you love, start adhering the pieces with varying thicknesses of dimensional adhesive for additional depth and texture which you can see below.

Pop your greeting on with some foam tape and all that’s left is a little bling if you like – Carol added hers with a few pops of Lilac Whisper Nuvo Glitter Drops.

Here’s what you will want to have out or add to your cart to make this card – we can see this in so many different colors and for loads of different occasions!
