See how our new paper crafting stencils add so much magic to handmade cards!

We recently released a whole batch of brand new paper crafting stencils in loads of different designs and while we can tell you are excited by how they are FLYING out of here, we love seeing them in use. Today’s card from Lisa uses several and we are just so thrilled to see how well they work together and awesome results they give when paired with our Color Fuse ink. Let’s take a closer look!

Lisa started by stamping the images from our new Pirates Under The High Seas stamp set onto Copic friendly paper with Copic friendly ink and colored them in with – you guessed it! – her Copics. She cut them all out with our coordinating die and set them aside to confer while she moved on.

For her captivating background, Lisa cut a panel of white card stock with the largest die from our Nested Rectangle Small Stitch Die set. While she had her machine out, she also cut a strip with our Slimline Clouds die to use as her cloud layer stencil. She also cut a strip using our Slimline Waves die keeping BOTH pieces.

Using the lighter shades from Color Fuse Set #9, Lisa then blended clouds over her background, starting at the top and going down about 3/4 of the way over the panel.

Note that Lisa left the upper right hand corner of the panel uninked. PRO TIP: Lisa moved her long die cut stencil side to side a bit with each layer of clouds to create variations of cloud puffs as she moved down the panel.

Lisa then lined our new Sun Burst stencil up so that the rays shone mostly in that uninked upper right hand corner. She applied some Lemon Color Fuse over that stencil to create a sunny splash in the clouds.

And then Lisa placed our new Sand stencil in the opposite, lower left hand corner and used a piece of washi tape to mask off where she wanted her sandy dune to stop.

She created that textural look by applying Cinnamon Color Fuse Ink through the stencil, removed the stencil and then applied some Mocha Color Fuse Ink over that whole area.

The last detail – the waves – were made by masking off the sandy shore with more washi tape and took the CURVED die cut piece (save the waves for another project!) and, turning it upside down, used it to stencil waves from the bottom of the panel up to meet the clouds. Lisa used the darkest three colors from the same Color Fuse Set #9 and started with the darkest at the bottom, again moving the stencil side to side with each color application.

Lisa dug into her leftover die cut stash and added a sentiment to one of them and added it over the sunny rays with some dimensional adhesive.

Now she added her characters with varying thicknesses of foam tape, saving a small detail to add to her greeting. PRO TIP: adding “clusters” of focal elements to a card in opposition adds a ton of visual motion to any project. Lisa did that here with her group of detailed images in the lower left corner and her smaller grouping with the sentiment opposite them in the upper right corner. Try it – it’s SUCH an easy way to make a card look even more enticing!

A few “watery” sequins and this card panel was ready to be layered onto a coordinating fine mat of a bright teal blue and then onto a card base to be ready to delight someone special!
