A Summery Die Cut Flower Wreath

Make a summery die cut flower wreath for a beautiful card!

Recently Kittie posted this project to her blog and we asked her if we could share it here (and of course she said yes, she’s so sweet!) We were totally captivated by this bright colored, simple but stunning summery die cut flower wreath that makes this card such a standout! And even though the greeting says “spring” we think this color combo is a perfect summer statement.

Kittie shares all her steps for making this whole card on her blog – have you ever seen the level of detail she shares? It’s amazing! You can pop over there to check out the whole story and we want to point out some of the highlights here.

Kittie explains that she used the same flower shape from our Stackable Flowers and Leaves #3 in three different complementary colors. She then arranged them in repeated sets of three. This makes your eye move around in a circular motion, adding to the visual movement that makes the brain want to soak it all in. All those little extra details of the leaves and bitty flowers can then shine without distracting.

We also love how Kittie uses white layers over color on many of her cards. She loves to use our layering dies for this because she can create lots of depth and shadow without adding more colors or distractions. You will often see her add these with dimensional adhesive to add that little lift and depth.

And of course we can’t share a KittieKraft creation without pointing out how Kittie brings her blossoms to life just with some simple shaping. If you aren’t sold on how much difference this super easy step makes, test it out sometime. Make a little arrangement with some “flat” flowers and then with some you’ve used Kittie’s tips on and see if you aren’t blown away by the difference! You can see the impact this easy technique makes with all that extra dimension and texture.
