Look what Kittie created – a tool box card loaded with details!
When Kittie said she wanted to create some basic tools with a vintage style tool box, we just knew that she would come up with something like this handmade tool box card. While it’s perfect for Father’s Day, this is the perfect card for anyone who is, as Kittie says in her original post, handy or WANTS to be handy!
You can see all her how-tos on her site right here and we wanted to share some of the highlights to get you inspired to try out these new dies.
First, Kittie used wood grain textured card stock to make her tool box and we just love how authentic it looks! She echo’d that look with her frame that she cut with our Deckle Frame die, one of the many “little black dress” products we offer. Kittie used her Misti stamp positioner to line up her frame over her background panel to make sure when she stamped her greeting it would be in the perfect spot. Great tip!
Like Julie did with this card, Kittie used silver metallic card stock to cut the parts of the tools that would be metal. This tiny added detail creates HUGE impact, don’t you think? And Kittie made liberal use of her different dimensional adhesives to create a layout with lots of depth, dimension and visual movement.
As Kittie says, “Doesn’t this make you want to create your own tool box card designs? Who knew that something as simple as a regular ol’ tool box and some basic tools could give us so many fun ways to make cards?”
Here are the things from our store that Kittie used today:

So think about it – how many times would a handmade tool box card be the perfect greeting for someone? And those tiny tools will be great accents on other projects, too! If you haven’t added this set to your wish list you may want to do that now that you’ve seen this project!
