We have plenty of birdhouse card ideas coming to share!
People seem to love birdhouses and the feathered friends they attract and we’ve been asked to share some birdhouse card ideas. Fortunately, we have a charming die set that lets you create several different styles of this motif and, of course, PLENTY of birds to occupy them.
Kittie created this card for her blog and since we are still celebrating the arrival of Spring and April’s theme is animals, we thought this was the perfect project to kick off this month.
Kittie used our Large Bird House die to create just one of the three available little homes and added her special touches to it using lots of tiny die cut flowers, shaped and shaded, for all that beautiful texture and dimension. She also used one of her favorite tricks of adding a simple die cut white on white frame to help contain the scene and draw the focus to the darling little birds preparing their cozy home.
You may notice that the little roof and landing deck on the birdhouse perfectly proportioned perspective-wise to suit the size of the element. Kittie uses a great trick she’s shared with us to add that dimension in just the right amount; she rolls up a little length of adhesive tape. This roll gives just enough added lift to these tiny elements so the look realistic with the exact right amount of depth. Genius!
Here’s a closeup where you can see how her easy shaping of her tiny die cut blossoms adds so much realism and visual interest with just a quick press of a shaping tool. These itty bitty details can then be added with your favorite dots of liquid glue for perfect placement.
