These handmade butterfly cards are SO sweet!

Today Allie is sharing such a sweet and simple design for some quick and easy handmade butterfly cards that are excellent for lots of different occasions. Keeping the elements simple and unfussy – but still beautiful in their own right – keeps the focus on the darling butterflies. Let’s see how she did it!
Allie started by taking a card sized panel of white card stock and blended the lighter shades of the inks in Color Fuse Set #9 over it, letting it fade out toward the center. This both gives the background some depth and also draws the eye to the center where the butterflies will be.

Then she cut another piece of white card stock with out Diamond With Holes Cover die. You guys LOVE this design and we are so excited that it’s making you all so happy! She added that over her inked panel with some foam squares.

Next, she used more Color Fuse inks from her collection of all the beautiful shades to ink up another panel of white card stock and used our Two Part Butterfly #3 die set to cut three butterfly backgrounds from it and cut the three detail pieces from scraps of white card stock. To add more visual interest to her butterflies and to echo the detail of the white, she splattered some white ink over the background pieces. When they were completely dry, she added the detail pieces over these pretty inked shapes with more foam squares. She added her butterflies to her card front with even more foam squares for those delicious shadows.

Allie stamped the sentiment from our Darling Dahlias set, trimmed it down into a rectangle and added it with, you guessed it!, more foam squares over the center of the middle butterfly. She added a few jewels for a teeny bit of sparkle and her luscious card was complete!

This design for these handmade butterfly cards is so flexible – you can use patterned paper instead of inked, you can use other motifs, you can change up the greeting, you can flip it to horizontal. These cover dies add so much instant texture and detail and then the sky’s the limit to what you can do next!
