These handmade reindeer Christmas cards are cute for anyone!
When we saw this idea for handmade reindeer Christmas cards that Kittie shared on her blog, we asked her if we could share it here. Doesn’t this card just instantly make you smile? Those die cut reindeer look like they can’t WAIT to get to work!
Kittie says she used some polka dotted paper for her “reverse” snowy background and we checked and our Splatter Background stamp (that Kittie used for the snow on the trees) makes a very nice substitution to create this look. We really love how Kittie’s use of layering creates the perfect little scene for these fellas to be tucked into. Kittie uses layering a lot in her projects and it’s such an easy way to build lots of depth and dimension.
Another thing Kittie is known for with her cards that are created using almost only all die cuts is adding even more dimension with inks. You can see that here with the reindeer faces; Kittie has added just enough brown ink around the edge of the die cut to create the perfect shadow. She’s built her little reindeer friends with more dimensional adhesive, making them look real enough to want to pat!
We also love all the little details Kittie has added, like the snow on the trees from the Splatter Background stamps, the adorable little greenery and berry details on each reindeer, and the bits of greenery sticking up from the snow. We learn so much about card design from Kittie every time!
In case you just HAVE to make these for yourself, here are the items from our store that Kittie used today:
Something that is really nice about these handmade reindeer cards is that they make a nice thing to send to people who don’t celebrate the religious aspects of the season. With their more wintry feel and that little bit of silliness from their facial expressions, these can be a terrific option for those secular people you want to include in your holiday card list!
