We just cracked up when we saw Lisa’s spooky themed but oh-so-adorable monster card today! The silly funny monsters against that doom and gloom background is the perfect combination of trick and treat!
Let’s check out how she made it!
First she cut out her monsters from purple and green card stock and mixed and matched the pieces to make her little characters. Then she used her clouds stencil that she made using the new Clouds Slimline Die to sponge some green, blue and purple clouds as her spooky sky onto her card panel cut using the Slimline Nested Stitch Die. PRO TIP: Cut two and use one as the stencil and one as a mask to make those layers really stand out.
Then to really play up the “gloom” on her background, Lisa splattered some of the same inks with a waterbrush over the clouds. PRO TIP: “swipe” your Color Fuse inks onto a craft sheet and pick up with a waterbrush for painting or to tap these splatters on your projects. Then to create a more blended look in the clouds, she misted some water over the panel and then dabbed it off. Lisa says “I LOVE the softer look this gives!”
Next she started building her scene by using the Slimline Grass, Spooky Tree, Haunted House, and Bats and Spiderwebs all out of black card stock so they would be all shadowy and scary!
After the background was completed, she added her monsters using various thicknesses of dimensional adhesive.
She even made one of the little monsters a pumpkin candy bucket by cutting one of the pumpkins from orange complete with a little “vine” handle! Then she amped up the fun by adding “EEK” cut from black glitter paper.
What do you think – are you inspired to make a monster card of your own? Remember too that this design can easily be adapted to an A2 card using less monsters! Trick AND treat!!!
This is great!
Such a cute card!
