First, our designer made the shaker element. She was able to this SUPER easily because she used two of our new slimline dies to cut both the outside AND the inside all at once! PRO TIP: Even if you are using a magnetic plate, it’s always a good idea to use a little washi tape or post-it notes to make sure your dies don’t slide or jump when you are running them through your machine.
Next, she added a 7 1/4″ x 2 1/4″ piece of acetate to the BACK of this window piece. She added foam tape around each window opening, making sure each piece butted up against the other to make sure her shaker filler didn’t leak out. You can JUST see the acetate in this shot.
She cut a piece of coordinating patterned paper to fit on top of her base card from The Paper Cut – we LOVE her combination of colors! She piled a mix of sequins onto the plaid paper estimating where the center of each of the three windows would be and removed the paper from the foam tape and placed the window layer over the sequins. Once the layer is firmly on you can shake the base around to mix up the sequins.
Do this carefully by lining up the bottom two corners so your frame goes on straight and slowly lower it onto your background panel.
Now for those ADORABLE foxes! She stamped and cut out those little fellas and went to town coloring them so beautifully with Copic markers YR23, YR27 and YR31 and R02 for a little bit of color on their cheeks and ears. We adore her coloring here – she really brought these sweet furry friends to life!
The balloons were cut once from a polka dot paper that coordinated with the plaid and twice more from white. So cute and so easy and the perfect addition to a birthday card!
She used a blending brush and Color Fuse inks in Crimson, Apricot and Autumn to give those balloons some lovely color and depth. What a fun way to use the inks! The white strings were attached to the back of the balloons with a small dot of glue.
Next the sentiment from Kittie Says Phrases #1 was stamped onto the sign from the Fox stamp set. We love that the separate sign has attached foxy hands so it can be added or not and it looks like the fox is holding the sign… adorable right?? She made this on-line sentiment fit by inking up only the “Make A” part first, stamping it at the top of the sign and then cleaned the stamp REALLY well (you don’t want a shadow) doing the same with the “Wish” part of the sentiment. This is a really fun way to get a LOT more use out of your sentiments and greetings!
Finally all of the images and balloon die cuts were added to the front of the shaker with varying thicknesses of foam tape with balloon strings tucked behind the images and a few sequins scattered on the front of the card.
