Check out some PRO TIPS on using slimline insert dies from Rubbernecker on this adorable Christmas card!

Rubbernecker Stamps has rebranded and is now Brass & Bliss Craft Co. The items in this blog post can be found on our new website at www.BrassandBliss.com. The shopping links in this blog have been updated to take you to the correct location for purchasing.

We remember when we launched the then-new slimline insert dies from Rubbernecker, people went bananas over these innovative mix and match dies. People still do, judging by how many times we have to reorder all the different designs. Today Dawn is using a couple from our collection along with our ever-popular Christmas Inchies and our brand new Snowflake Fun Slimline Paper Pad to create a card that is so irresistibly adorable we can’t stop looking at it.

Let’s get the details in Dawn’s own words and follow along as she puts one together for us:

  • First thing I did was stamp out the images and color them.
  • I color them before I die cut them. It is much easier that way.
  • Here is the list of Copic combinations I used.
  • Santa
  • Red – B63 R29 R27 R35
  • White – W5 W3 W1
  • Skin – E000 E00 E04 E11 E21
  • Cheeks – R21 R30
  • Black – 100 N9 N5 N7
  • Penguin
  • Black – 100 N9 N7 N5 N3
  • White – W5 W3 W1 W00
  • Red – B63 R29 R27 R35
  • Reindeer
  • Body – E49 E47 E44 E43
  • Light Brown – E42 E41 E40
  • Bell – C5 C3 C1 C00
  • Red – B63 R29 R27 R35
  • Tree – YG67 YG17 YG03
  • Star – V25 Y28 Y38 Y35 Y32

  • Lay your Slimline Nested Stitch Die down
  • Then Center the SL1 4 Corner Circles Die in the middle.

  • First your are going to die cut with white card stock.
  • You are only going to use one of the center pieces so you can put the rest of it away for a future card.

  • Now choose a coordinating colored card stock that goes with your patterned paper.
  • I used Snowflake Fun Slimline Paper and this green matched it perfectly.
  • You won’t need the three center pieces so save them for a future card.

  • Take the largest die that come with the Slimline Nested Stitch Die set and cut out your piece for behind your cut green card stock.
  • Make sure you set your die on top of the side you want showing so you get the lovely stitched effect from the die.

  • Now stamp the string onto your cut green card stock as shown above.
  • You will be adding lights that you colored and die cut.

  • Take the piece of white card stock die cut that you saved from earlier and stamp your sentiment on it using the Merry Christmas Large/Small stamp set.

  • Now comes the fun part! Putting your card together.
  • Take your Santa die cut and your tree and star and adhere them to the top opening. I glued the bottom but added foam adhesive to the top of the Santa, tree and star to give it some dimension.

  • Now add your sentiment.
  • I used the bird stamp and die from the Laughing Snowman Set. I thought he added a little something to the sentiment – it looks like he’s saying Merry Christmas.
  • For the bulbs I only glued the base of the bulb and lifted the ends up for some added dimension.

  • Add your penguin and reindeer the same way your adhered your Santa and Tree.

  • To add more color to the card I added a cranberry red card stock to mat with.
  • This is a slimline card and it measure 3 1/2 x 8 1/2
  • To get the base you will need an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of 110lb card stock.
  • Cut on the 8 1/2 inch side at 7 inches.
  • Then score at 3 1/2 and that will give you your base.
  • Now all you have to do is adhere your panel onto your card base and you’re done!
