Make this beach themed birthday card in no time using easy to use dies!

Today we are sharing a bold and bright beach themed birthday card from Julie that gets all its visual pop from some of our dies, including the new sea gulls which people have been asking for for a long time. We just love all the bright colors and can see this card being used for lots of different card-sending reasons just by changing out the greeting. Let’s take a closer look!

To make that glorious setting sun, Julie cut a large circle out of a panel of card stock and placed it over her panel she’d cut with out Nested Rectangle Stitch Die set. Then she sponged inks from Color Fuse Sets #1 and #2 inside the circle, darkest colors at the edge, to make that beautiful bold POP in the center. Then she cut some waves with our Slimline Waves die out of two shades of blue to create her ocean swells. With blue being opposite orange on the color wheel, this card is already off to a bold start!

Then she cut her palm trunks from scraps of brown card stock and the fronds from different scraps of green. SAVE THOSE SCRAPS! Before adding them to her card, Julie used a piercing tool and added some texture to her palm trunks and a little on her fronds, adding some gentle shaping to the fronds, too, to give them some additional dimension.

She assembled everything together on her card front, tucking the bases into the waves atop a little island she hand cut from one of her brown card stock leftover scraps. She added the trunks with liquid glue and then the fronds with some dimensional adhesive to create more depth.

Then she cut some gulls from our new Seagulls die and added a little detail with gray markers. We created this die for all of you who asked for more and now seeing what you are doing with them we totally get why you were clamoring for them! Who knew that seagulls were so popular for cards! On the beach, not always so much. On cards – YEAH! They really DO add that extra detail that just makes you hear their cries over the surf!

To finish her beachy birthday card, Julie stamped her greeting from Kittie Says Phrases #1 at the bottom of a card base, layered her beach panel over a dark brown panel and added the whole thing to her card base with some adhesive tape. And then she went one step further!

She added some sweet details to the inside of the card, too! She took a white card stock panel and added just one layer of waves at the bottom and stamped her greeting at the top. Then she layered that over a card sized panel of decorative paper and popped the whole thing inside with more tape. What a fun finish!
