How beautiful is this super creative handmade thank you card idea?
This month we are seeing one creative handmade thank you card idea after another. This one really caught our attention with all of the captivating depth and dimension, both tactile and aesthetic. There are physical with dimensional adhesive but the way in which Allison added the visual layering just makes this card POP. Let’s learn from her, shall we?
To start, Allie stamped our News Paper Background with Fern Color Fuse Ink from Set #11 onto a white card base. She then cut a piece of white card stock with our Plaid Cover die and adhered it over the newsprint with liquid glue. We know, it looks like she used foam tape!
Then Allie cut a tag using our Nested Tag Stitch set from more white card stock, stamped the News Paper again with Fern, ran it through her die cutting machine with our Floral Swirl Pierced Cover Die and then swiped her Fern ink cube around the edges for a little texture.
This repeating the same design – the News Paper – in the same color – Fern – on different shapes and with additional texture – the Floral Swirl Cover die and the ink swiping – OVER the original stamped background all create that visual illusion of depth and texture. With very little additional thickness!
The tag assembly she did add with dimensional adhesive to give that elevation that helps make the eye see “down” into the design.
Now Allie stamped, colored and fussy cut the flowers from our Birthday lilies set and added it to the tag with dimensional adhesive, add another “step” for the eye to appreciate. She cut pale green – staying with that tone on tone for more shadows – with the script portion of our Thanks Word With Shadow Die set and then the shadow portion from white. She put them together with some liquid glue and adhered them to her flowers. She stamped her sentiment onto a scrap strip of white card stock, trimmed it right down and then added that below the die cut word with thin foam tape for just a hint of lift.
She wrapped up this delightful card with a simple baker’s twine bow through the top of the tag and a few Nuvo drops for little accents.
Wouldn’t you swear this card is about, oh, four inches thick? SO fun!
