My project today shows a good example of flower arranging with die cuts. Every spring my mother would fill large pots arranged with mixed flowering plants and foliage to place out on the front and back porches. They were so beautiful when the plants grew larger and filled in. That is the look I was going for with my bucket of flowers and I especially love the color combination.
For this project I used the Rubbernecker Wide Bucket for my container and filled it with foliage made from the Leaf Group and Leaves and Greenery set and flowers from the Small Flowers #1 and Small Flowers #3. I used the Nested Scallop with Holes and the Rectangle Combo OPC #3 for the base and frame and embellished the card with three Small Butterflies.
The Frame Layer
- Cut the decorative layer using white cardstock and the frame using bright pink cardstock.
- Attach strips of mounting tape to the back of the decorative layer and attach it to the card base.
- Use thin strips of mounting tape to attach the pink frame to the card base.
The Bucket
- Cut the wide bucket using dark blue cardstock.
- Use the small fern stamp from the Outdoor Master to apply touches of white pigment ink to the bucket.
- Apply white embossing powder to the bucket and heat.
- Place the whole bucket face down on the Versa pad and ouch down to get full coverage on the bucket.
- Apply clear embossing powder to the bucket and heat. Note: I was going for the look of the vintage granite enamel.
- Cut the bucket handle using gray cardstock,, apply versa and clear embossing powder and heat.
Arrange the Flowers and Foliage in the Bucket
- Cut the foliage sections using green cardstock.
- Arrange the different sized foliage sections in the pot and attach using glossy accents.
- Cut the flowers using purple, yellow and bright pink cardstock.
- Form the flowers using a stylus and molding pad.
- Add green dots in the center of the yellow flowers using a green marker and attach white premade Nuvo Crystal Drops to the purple flower centers using glossy accents.
- Attach the flowers to the foliage using glossy accents.
- Note: It’s hard to see in the photo but there are three main foliage sections- wide leaves for the purple flowers, tall leaf branches for the yellow flowers and long vine branches for the pink flowers. The wide leaf and tall branches created the main foliage base for the arrangement and the vines were attached to look like they were spreading throughout the arrangement.
- Apply a double layer of mounting tape to the back of the bucket and attach it to the card base.
- Finish by attaching the three yellow butterflies using glossy accents.
