Flower Garden Pop Up Box

Making this flower garden pop up box was lots of fun and will be the perfect gift for anyone who loves gardening and flowers.  For the base I used the A2 sized Pop Up Box by The Paper Cut.  These box kits are so handy to have on hand and take all the guess work out of figuring the dimensions and score lines for the box.  I created the scene using the Rubbernecker Arch Trellis, Garden Tools, Grass, Picket Fence, Tall Terracotta Pots, Wide Terracotta Pots, Small Flowers #3, Flower Buds and Small Butterflies.

Assemble the 3D Pop Up Box Base

• Cut the light blue paper layering pieces.
  • 2   2″ x 5 3/8″
  • 6   2″ x 2 5/8″
• Attach the paper layers to the inside and outside card base using double stick tape.
• Apply double stick tape to the tab, line it up and secure the box closed.
• Cut the grass sections to fit the tabs included in the kit and attach them with double stick tape.
• Apply double stick tape to the tabs on both sides and insert them inside the box.
• Use white cardstock to cut fence sections and attach them to the box flaps using mounting tape.
• Attach a grass section to the inside front of the box using double stick tape.
• Cut the Arch Trellis using white cardstock and attach to the back of the box using mounting tape.
• Attach additional grass sections to the box flaps using double stick tape.

The Flower Pots

• Use yellow cardstock to cut the tall and wide terracotta pots.
• Color the pots using a mini applicator, Wild Honey and Rusty Hinge ink.
• Cut the foliage sections using green cardstock and attach the pieces to the back of the pots using glossy accents.
• Use yellow cardstock to cut out all the flowers and form them using a small tipped stylus and molding pad.
• Apply glossy accents to the flower and attach them to the flower pot foliage.

Arch Trellis, Garden Tools and Butterflies

• Attach the foliage vines around the trellis using glossy accents.
• Use glossy accents to attach the small flowers all the way around the trellis.
• Use gray cardstock to cut the garden tools and color the handles using a green/blue marker.
• Cut the small butterflies using yellow cardstock.

Assemble the Scene

• Tuck the flower pots in behind the grass sections inside the box and attach using glossy accents.
• Apply mounting tape to the back of the additional flower pots and tuck them in behind the grass sections on the box flaps.
• Attach the garden tools to the trellis and box flaps using glossy accents.
• Finish the box by attaching the small butterflies using glossy accents.

This flower garden pop up box is so sweet and looks complicated but it was really easy to make.  I have to admit that after making several of them over the past year I find them easier to make.  So the old saying “practice makes perfect” is really true….although I can always find something about my finished projects that I would change or fix.  Have you tried making a pop up box?  If so, I would love it if you would link some of yours in the comment section.  If you would like more inspiration you can check out all 15  of my projects in my Pop Up Box Category.
