This beautiful handmade sunflower card idea just POPS with color!

We are gaga over this handmade sunflower card idea, with the bright beautiful yellow sunflowers just positively popping over that bright bold blue plaid background! Our Color Fuse Inks are just perfect for this card design with all the shades so clear and clean and just deliciously colorful.

Annie created this for us today using our Like a Sunflower Stamp set, part of the lineup of new goodies we just released yesterday. Aren’t they just so glorious? Annie says “I could almost feel the warm, humid breeze whipping through my hair when I was making this bright floral encouragement card!” So can we! Let’s make one for ourselves!

Begin by stamping that fabulously layered sunflower from the brand new Like a Sunflower Stamp set three times onto white card stock using Custard, Apricot and Cinnamon Color Fuse Inks from Set #1, Set #2 and Set #3 respectively. Cut the images out with your paper snips, leaving a narrow white border around the stamped areas to help them “float” on the background.

Using the leaves from our Blossoms in Spring set, stamp the layers three times onto scraps of white card stock using Grass and Basil Color Fuse Inks from Set #11 and Set #10. Cut your leaves out with our coordinating die or fussy cut as you did the sunflowers.

Now take our Plaid Texture stencil and apply Beachside and Serene Color Fuse Inks from Set #9 and Set #8 through the two layers of the stencil onto white card stock using a blending brush. When done, lightly blend Sonata Color Fuse Ink also from Set #8 over the white areas. (You can also start with a very light blue card stock if you prefer.)

Die cut your stenciled card stock with the largest die from our Nested Deckle Rectangle set. Stamp your choice of sentiment – Annie chose one from our Color My World Florals set – onto a scrap of white card stock with blue ink. Trim your sentiment into a little strip with your paper snips.

Now to assemble! Adhere your stenciled background to your white card base using dimensional adhesive. Arrange your stunning sunflowers and leaves in the center and adhere using both flat adhesive and dimensional adhesive to build up lots of luxurious depth. Pop your sentiment over the bouquet and this showstopper is ready to go…..well…..stop the show!

It’s such a knockout, isn’t it? And this pretty handmade sunflower card idea can also be adapted using the design basics to all our other beautiful flower stamps and other color combinations. Just create your tonal plaid background, stamp and cut several large blooms and arrange in the center with your sentiment. So versatile!
