A Happy Birthday cake card lasts forever!
What’s better on your birthday than a yummy cake and a pretty card? Maybe a Happy Birthday cake card that will last forever and always look delicious? This card from Annie combines all the sweetness of a delicious looking cake with the celebration of a birthday all in one precious card. Let’s see how she did it!
First, Annie made her pretty background by stamping our brand new Happy Birthday #1 Stamp Set with Whisper Color Fuse Ink from Set #9 twice side by side onto a piece of aqua card stock cut to 4″ X 5 ¼“.
Once the Whisper ink was completely dry, Annie stamped her sentiment from our Best Friends, Etc. stamp set onto the top of her panel with Versamark and heat embossed it with white powder.
Now she cut white card stock with the cake, icing pieces and candle and flame from our Birthday Cake die and colored the layers with light pink and pale brown alcohol markers to add tons of dimension and detail.
She used the Birthday Cake die again and cut the cake stand out of metallic gold card stock, assembling her layers on it using liquid glue and set it aside to dry.
While her cake was drying, Annie cut a piece of white card stock using our Nested Scallop With Holes die, keeping the outermost die cut for this project and tucking the other pieces in with the die for future projects. She then trimmed more of the same gold card stock to 4 ⅛” X 5 ⅜” and more of the aqua card stock to 4 ¼” X 5 ½“, layering the stamped aqua panel over the gold and then the gold over the larger aqua panel, adhering all the layers to a white card base, all using adhesive tape.
Annie then added her white frame over the stamped aqua panel with small pieces of dimensional adhesive and then added the cake to the center with more of the same adhesive for lots of shadows and dimension.
Annie popped on a few turquoise gems and this card that looks almost good enough to eat was ready to be shared with some lucky birthday person!
Isn’t that just so delightful? That icing looks good enough to covertly run a finger through – on the back so no one sees it! – and that fun background adds just enough visual motion that you just don’t want to stop looking at it! Here are the goodies Annie used today:
