Check out how to make a MINI Slimline Birthday card using our slimline nested dies!

Today we are sharing a fresh take on the slimline craze with this adorable mini slimline birthday card. Slimline cards are still super popular and along with them are their baby sisters – mini slimline cards – which are typically 6″ X 3″. These are a a very fun sized card to make and thanks to our three different, basic shapes of nested slimline dies you can easily make mini slimline cards with just a small, easy tweak. Let’s take a look at how Allison made this quick and easy card in a fresh new size.

First, Allie used the second smallest of our Slimline Nested Scallop With Stitch dies to cut a piece of white card stock. Now her simple, smart PRO TIP to scale this piece down to the mini slimline card size: Once you’ve cut your piece out, reposition the die cut inside the die with the edge of the die resting OVER the die cut at the place you want to make another side. Run this back through your machine and – VOILA! – new sized die cut! This works with almost any dies so definitely experiment with this super easy tip!

Next Allie trimmed a piece of white card stock to fit inside the stitched area of the die cut panel and stamped our Field of Stars background stamp over it with Versamark ink. She sprinkled that with white embossing powder, heated it up and when it was all melted and cooled, she blended some Color Fuse Ink from Set #5 over it with her favorite blending tool. After buffing any ink on the embossed areas with a tissue, she adhered it to the scalloped frame with adhesive tape.

Now Allie stamped three cupcakes with our new Dessert Set, colored them in with her markers and used a white gel pen to add her sparkly highlights. After cutting out her cupcakes with the coordinating die, she added them to her background with some dimensional adhesive.

Allie finished off the panel with a little wrap of baker’s twine tied in a cheerful bow, added a sentiment stamped onto a scrap of card stock and trimmed to size and added a few sequins for some more sparkle and visual movement. Now this mini slimline birthday card was ready to delight a lucky person!
