Sweet birthday cards are always perfect and this one “takes the cake!”

We love having ideas for sweet birthday cards because there really aren’t too many times when these aren’t just perfect. This one from Renee goes above and beyond loaded with some yummy treats suited to wishing someone sweet a Happy Birthday. Let’s take a look at how she put this cutie together!

Renee started by cutting a bright pink frame using our Slimline OPC Squares and then cut a piece of white card stock with the same die for the three squares to go inside the frame. (Save the white frame and the pink squares for another project!)

Renee added some quick and easy visual motion to two of her white squares with some ink spray – a few spritzes and she had pretty splatters to draw the eye in and around the details that will be placed on top.

While her squares were drying, Renee adhered the pink border to a bright blue slimline card base with adhesive tape. She also stamped her images from our Dessert Set with Copic-friendly ink on Copic-friendly paper. She colored these in with – you guessed it! – her Copics and then cut them all out with our coordinating die.

To make her sweet treats pop even MORE, Renee traced the outside of the coordinating dies with pencil and fussy cut around that to make perfectly sized and shaped mats for each die cut. Clever!

Now she adhered the three white squares into the frame with more tape with the uninked one in the center and added her yummy sweet treats over the two outside squares with foam tape. PRO TIP: Adding elements at angles over straight lines emphasizes the visual movement on a project and makes it more fun to look at for the eye.

Renee made her greeting element by stamping the sentiment on white card stock and die cutting it with one of our Nested Oval Small Stitch dies and layering that over a bright blue shape cut with our Nested Oval Scallop die set. She added a sweet little bow in bright pink and added it over the center square with more dimensional adhesive.
