Yes, you can make this gorgeous vintage red truck Christmas decor piece to use or give as a fabulous handmade gift!

A trend that has endured the years is the theme of vintage red truck Christmas decor. There is something about an old red pickup truck against the snowy greenery of the Christmas season that people just really love. Our very own Kittie Caracciolo put her spin on this a few years ago and this post gets shared and commented on even to this day. We decided we wanted to share it, too.

You can get all the details on Kittie’s own blog here but we just had to share some of the fabulous details with you now.

Kittie found the plaque at one of the bog box craft stores and it was already covered with that wood look finish. If you fine one that is just plain wood, you can use patterned paper to cover it very easily! Kittie used our Splatter Background stamp with white pigment ink to add all that snow fall over the “wood”. She then heat embossed it all with white powder for a crisper white and a little added dimension.

Kittie is also known for her added depth on cards using multiple layers separated with foam tape to add that depth. In this case, she cautions that the final project will be more damage-proof with these layers added flat.

Before adding all her die cut elements, Kittie added her stamped and heat embossed snow effect to them to ensure that whole scene would be cohesive. She took the snow look even further by using a fine paint brush and white pigment reinker to add some snow “pileup” and icicles to the vintage red truck and the barn eaves; after artfully applying the ink, she added more of that white embossing powder and, well, just LOOK at the end results!

Now, to make sure that this project would endure, where she did use foam tape to create dimension, she adhered the pieces of foam tape with hot glue. Genius, right? Kittie also added the look of more dimension by using several shades of green for her trees and by staggering her die cut elements down the sides of the plaque.

Kittie gifted this to someone special and the person who received it shared with Kittie that this is one of her most cherished holiday items. So much so that she leaves it up all year round! Are any of us surprised?
