Today’s cute handmade owl Christmas card will make everyone smile!

We have Jamie to thank for this cute handmade owl Christmas card that uses a traditional Christmas color with a unique twist. By adding those warm tones in her cloudy element, this card gets a contemporary feel with some classic themes – a great combination! Let’s get into the making!

Start by cutting a piece of red card stock to a card sized panel, set our Snowflake Stencil over it and apply some white pigment ink over that to create that cool reversed snowy look. When completely dry to avoid any smudging, adhere this to your top folding white card base.

Now get out your die cutting machine and let’s cut all the parts and pieces. Cut scraps of your picks of colors for your owl with our Build an Owl die and our Owl Christmas Add-Ons die set. Also cut a piece of white card stock and white glitter card stock with the largest die from our Nested Banner Stitch die set.

Assemble your owl with liquid glue (to give you time to move all the elements around) and set him/her aside.

On the white card stock banner die cut, use our Clouds Stencil to add layers of clouds using Use the Clouds Stencil to make clouds on the banner using Color Fuse Inks from Sets #1, #2, and #4, coordinating your ink shades with the tone of red in the card stock you used for your snowflake panel. When you’ve finished your clouds, layer this piece over the white glitter banner to allow some of the glitter to show at the bottom. Adhere this assembly to your stenciled snowflake layer. Then add your little Christmas cutie to your cloudy banner with some dimensional adhesive.

Stamp your sentiment with VersaMark onto a scrap of red card stock you used for your background and heat emboss with white powder. To get that fabulously seamless match on the edges, cut the scrap with the same banner die and then trim closely to the top and bottom of the words.

Adhere this over the banner with more dimensional adhesive, tucked under the owl’s feet as a perch. To finish this card off with a touch more sparkle, tie a couple of loops of white and gold baker’s twine around the top of the card with a bow in the upper left and then add just a few little pearls in the lower right corner.
