Use this handmade birthday card idea for cat lovers to make them feel truly special!
Whether it’s you who is a feline fan or the lucky friend you are sending this to, this handmade birthday card idea for cat lovers totally fits the bill! Adding the cute die cut details over some simple layers made with our mini slimline dies give you tons of design variations!
Allison created this for us and, as always, we’ve got the goods on how you can put this together yourself. Let’s go!
Allie started with a white mini slimline card base – you can go here to get some basic information on making these “snack-sized” treats. She used our Mini Slimline Tabbed Scallop Stitch die set to cut the largest layer from a bright apple green and the next size down die to cut white card stocks.
Allie then stamped the floral design from our new Bird/Rose Background Strip stamp pair with Versamark onto white card stock and heat embossed it with white powder. She then buffed Lavender Color Fuse Ink from Set #6 and Rose from Set #5 over the background for some soft shading. After wiping the ink off the embossed images with a tissue, Allie cut this piece with one of the dies from our Mini Slimline Nested With Stitch set.
Before adhering this to her layers with some dimensional adhesive, Allie wrapped some baker’s twine in white and coordinating bright green around the lower part of the panel. PRO TIP: When adhering an element with something wrapped around it, leave some space above and below the wrap adhesive free so you can have the ability to adjust it to align with your details.
Now it was time for the cute little details! Allie stamped her choices of images from our new Cats and Flowers stamp set, colored them in with her favorite markers and then cut them out with our coordinating die. She added these to her top layer with a variety of thicknesses of dimensional adhesive to create some charming depth to build the scene. Allie stamped that cheeky greeting on a scrap of white card stock, trimmed it down and popped it right into the scene.
To add even more of a textural element to her sweet background, Allie added a few lavender Nuvo Drops here and there, helping the eye to keep roving over this winsome card.
