How adorable is this handmade cards with dogs?
April’s theme is animals and we have TONS of cute critters to help you make cards of all kinds. This handmade card with dogs from Julie feels like a warm and fuzzy hug and is perfect to bridge the super warm end-of-winter weather days with the chilly isn’t-this-suppose-to-be-Spring-already evenings.
Let’s get Julie’s steps for creating this cute card that is loaded with love.
Julie started by stamping the canine cuties from our For Each Other set onto white card stock and colored them in with her Copics. Here are the colors she used if you want to make yours the same:
Julie then cut these out with our coordinating die, cutting a few extra (without stamping) and adhering all the die cuts together. This method of layering the same die cut shapes adds some thickness and both actual and visual weight to your elements. While she had her die cutting machine out, Julie cut a small heart from a scrap of white card stock and a card layer sized panel using our Nested Rectangle Small Stitch die set. She also used our She layered the panel over a piece of dark brown card stock cut to offer a narrow border and adhered them together.
Julie colored her little heart die cut with her Copics and then, to mimic her brown layer on the card, used a dark brown marker to color a little border on the heart to help it stand out behind her little furry fellas. She then colored over the heart with a clear glaze pen to give it some shine and to sort of spotlight the puppers.
Julie took a piece of kraft card stock and stamped it with our Cheesecloth Background using Cinnamon Color Fuse Ink from Set #3. She trimmed this down to card layer size and adhered it to her white card base with her tape runner.
To finish the card, Julie stamped her sentiment on her white card panel (making sure to leave plenty of space for her die cut doggies), stamped the heart swag over it and colored them in with her red Copic. She popped her puppers onto the card with some dimensional adhesive and this card was ready to give someone the warm and fuzzies!
If you have a friend who has fur-babies this handmade card with dogs that are clearly sending their special kind of good boi love will absolutely make them feel as special as you feel them to be!
