Today’s metallic embossing on dark paper takes this technique to a whole new level!
Any finish of metallic embossing on dark paper adds tons of drama and high impact to cards and today’s version from Natasha takes this easy-to-do but oh-so-gorgeous technique to a whole new level with her artistic touches.
To start, Natasha stamped the flowers from our Sweetest Sunrise onto her deeply colored card stock with Versamark and then heat embossed with gold embossing powder. She created her own pattern by restamping three times at different angles and in different areas.
She then took three colors of our Color Fuse ink – Magenta, Azure and Hearth, from Sets #6, #7 and #12, repspectively – and blended them around the edges, working from lightest to darkest and use Hearth on the very outer edges. PRO TIP: applying ink this way adds so much depth and dimension and helps those glorious embossed images “float”.
When she’d blended on all her ink, Natasha cut the panel with the largest from our Nested Rectangle die set. For all that beautiful visual movement and added sparkle, Natasha then splattered her panel with some gold metallic watercolor paint and some Ken Oliver Sparkle inks. These splattered designs in complementary colors and metallics keep the eye moving, giving this card additional appeal with just a few flicks of a paint brush!
For her greeting, Natasha used the You Script With Shadow die set and scraps of white and black card stock, adhering the two together with some liquid adhesive. She then stamped her words with Versamark onto a scrap of black card stock and heat embossed with white powder to echo the white shadow of the word die. She trimmed this very closely into a sharp little rectangle.
Now she adhered her panel to her white card base and added her greeting components with foam squares and, we are guessing, held this card out at arm’s length and grinned from ear to ear!
