Use this idea for an easy tone on tone card background!
Sometimes, a stamp does all the work for you as it does here with this super pretty tone on tone card background in two colors. We love the juxtaposition of this lemony yellow with the cool pale teal and the die cut flowers seeming to float over them. Let’s take a look at how Annie made this card for us today.
First, she made her flowers using our Friend Phrases with Flower set by stamping onto white card stock with Versafine Clair Nocturne and coloring in the images with her watercolor markers. As this is one of the few stamps for which we didn’t make a die, she fussy cut around the edge leaving a narrow white border to help it pop.
Then Annie cut her yellow and teal card stock to 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″. Using our Rock Wall background stamp, she stamped Autumn Color Fuse onto the yellow and Whisper Color Fuse onto the teal for that gorgeous, rich tone on tone effect. She trimmed the stamped pieces to 2″ X 2 1/2″ pieces and adhered them with tape in a checkerboard pattern to her white card base.
Annie used some white and teal card stock scraps to cut the words from our Hello Script with Shadow set and adhered them together with liquid glue. Also she stamped her sentiment from our Build a Phrase #1 set in Whisper Color Fuse onto another scrap of white card stock and trimmed it down with her scissors. (Note, image shows words die cut in white and black but Annie decided she liked the teal better!)
Now that all her pieces were ready, she added them to her card with foam tape and all the card needed were a few clear “water droplets” to be ready to WOW someone special!
That pretty, textural tone on tone look adds so much depth and dimension to an otherwise simple, yet stunning, project! Here’s what you will want to have from our store to make this yourself:
We are super excited to see this terrific idea for creating a tone on tone card background and have been eyeballing all our other background stamps and Color Fuse ink colors spotting lots of fun ways to do this. Are you going to give this a try?
